The Senior AU Accountant role sits between the Bookkeeping team and the Client Manager. The role will support the Client Manager in tasks that are beyond the work of the Bookkeepers.

Responsibilities

The Senior AU Accountant will work across the business to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations for multi-currency accounts and help optimize cash management whenever possible
  • Manage the end-to-end process for Payables including but not limited to PO management, invoicing, payment file creation, and vendor relations
  • Manage the end-to-end process for Receivables including but not limited to invoicing and customer relations
  • Weekly extraction of invoices from the client's inbox
  • Reconcile credit cards, accounts receivable, and other payment gateways while utilizing applications such as Hubdoc, KeyPay and Dext
  • Responsible for payroll processing and filing to a very high degree of accuracy and timeliness
  • Responsible for driving the whole month-end tasks such as EOM closing, P&L analysis and reporting, BS recs, KPI and Cash flow reporting, and producing financial reports on an entity and consolidated level
  • Ensure Balance Sheet reconciliation on a multi-currency and inter-entity level is performed with a high level of details
  • Work on Ad Hoc reconciliation tasks for new clients and bring their books up to date
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly/semi-annual/annual budgets and cash flow forecasts
  • Responsible for the preparation of financial reports, tax returns, GST, BAS, and client tax reports as necessary
  • Make effective use of job-related tools such as Karbon, Trello, Notion, KeyPay, Receipt Bank, Dear Inventory, Cin7, and Shopify.
  • Manage relations with clients, customers, vendors, and other key business partners
  • Provide on a regular and timely basis a high-level overview of relevant matters and tasks to the Client Manager

Requirements

The Senior AU Accountant role requires:

  • Must be a CPA with Australian Accounting experience. Non-CPAs with related experience are welcome to apply
  • Experience in AU Taxation is a huge plus
  • At least 3 years of experience in a financial / management accounting position
  • The candidate must be tech-savvy in order to perform responsibilities effectively
  • The candidate must have high proficiency in Xero and the related functions such as XPM, Xero Payroll and Xero Tax
  • Candidates having experience with Dear Inventory System, Cin7, Shopify, Hubdoc, Karbon, Notion or the related tools are highly preferred
  • Should have excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in dealing with a wide array of stakeholders such as C-suite roles, Managers, Customers, Vendors, and other key business partners is highly preferred
  • With proven skills and experience in delivering full month-end close including P&L, BS and Cash flow reporting
  • The candidate is comfortable with being delegated high-level details of instructions
  • Takes ownership and personal accountability for decisions and actions; can seek guidance and advice when needed
  • The candidate must be resourceful, with a strong proven ability in taking down process notes, and must operate with a high degree of independence and reliability
  • Lastly, to realize the responsibilities of the role, good character and an effective working attitude are a must to ensure strong attention to detail, time management, and accounting administration skills
